Bluetooth Card Readers Overview
Which type of card reader you use will depend on your merchant account and the event’s location.
- A Stripe merchant account, located in Canada uses the Stripe Wisepad 3.
- A Stripe merchant account, located in the United States uses the Stripe M2.
Stripe merchant account in Canada - Wisepad 3
If you would like to allow card-present transactions for cashless sales at your event in Canada, and your merchant provider is Stripe you will use the Wisepad 3 as your card reader in conjunction with your Mobile Box Office device. In this article, the Wisepad 3 will be referred to as the “card reader.”
- Power on the card reader by holding in the power button in the top right corner until the screen lights up.

- You can view the Bluetooth connection and battery power status in the top right corner of the screen.
- A solid Bluetooth symbol indicates that it is connected to a device running Intellitix FOS and is ready to take payments.
- A blinking Bluetooth symbol indicates that the card reader is not connected to a device running Intellitix FOS and is not ready to take payments

Stripe merchant account in the United States
If you would like to allow card-present transactions for cashless sales at your event in the United States, and Stripe is your merchant provider you will use the M2 as your card reader in conjunction with your Mobile Box Office device. In this article, the M2 will be referred to as the “card reader.”
- Power on the card reader by holding in the power button in the top left corner until the green dots light up and you hear a subtle beep.

- You can view the battery power status on the top of the card reader when you push on the power button.
- 4 small green lights indicates the device is fully charged.
- 1 small green light indicates the device is running low battery.

Connecting a Bluetooth Card Reader in the Intellitix FOS App
- In order to make card present transactions you will need to pair your Mobile Box Office device with your card reader in the Intellitix FOS App. To log in to Intellitix FOS, please refer to the “Logging in to your Mobile Box Office device” section in the article here. Once logged in, tap the three green lines (the hamburger menu) in the top right corner.

- Tap the Card Reader option from the menu that appears.

- Once the Welcome to Cashless screen changes from Initializing to Initialized, tap the green Discover Readers button.
- If the screen gets stuck Initializing for a long period of time, check to make sure that you have assigned a merchant account to your event in Console and that the address associated with the merchant account matches the address of the event.

- All available devices will appear on the screen.

- Tap the card reader that matches the serial number on the back of your card reader.
|
|
|
- If this is your device’s first time being paired with the card reader or became un-paired in between uses, you will need to tap on the Bluetooth pairing request at the bottom of your screen.
If your card reader requires an update, Intellitix FOS will indicate that it is updating. This update could take up to 30 minutes, so please plan ahead and be patient. |

- Intellitix FOS on your Mobile Box Office device will indicate the card reader is connected. Tap Start to begin the transaction process.

Selling Tickets with Mobile Box Office
- Once you are logged in and have connected your Bluetooth devices navigate to the Intellitix FOS App home screen. From here tap the Box Office icon.

- You will be taken to the Box Office welcome screen. Then tap New Purchase.

|
- The Select Your Tickets screen will have all active ticket types configured in Console listed. Tap the quantity, choose the quantity next to the ticket type the purchaser would like to buy, then tap Next.

- Then enter the purchaser’s information and tap Next. Only email is required but name, zip code, and phone number can also be collected.
|
|
- Your next page will allow you to confirm the order with the purchaser before proceeding. Once the ticket amount and the order total is confirmed:
- If selling in Canada - ask the purchaser if they are paying with Credit, Debit or cash and tap the corresponding button
- If selling in the U.S. - tap the Pay by Credit or Cash button

- Depending on the location you are selling in the card reader will react differently:
- If selling in Canada - The card reader will light up with the total. Direct the purchaser to either tap their card to the top of the screen or insert their card in the bottom slot to pay.
- If selling in the U.S. - Have the purchaser tap, insert, or swipe on the card reader.

- While the payment is being processed the WAITING FOR INPUT messaging will be updated to reflect the status of the payment.
|

|
- If the credit or debit payment is successful, you will be taken to the “Payment was successful” screen in the Intellitix FOS App. At this screen, the tickets purchased will begin to print. Tickets will also be emailed to the purchaser’s email address provided during the purchase. You can either tap View Last Order if you are done or tap Start New Purchase.

Unsuccessful Payment Troubleshooting
An incomplete transaction will result in an unsuccessful screen, prompting you to press the Try Again button to return to the order confirmation screen where you may try again by selecting a payment method. |
